World class opportunity for Volunteer Youth Managers

Volunteering Ireland and Southeastern European Youth Network are hosting a week long volunteer management training course in Krusevac, Serbia, involving 40 participants from Southeast European (SEE) and EU countries.
Topic: "Innovations in Management of Volunteering Services through European Cooperation and EVS Promotion”.
It is a learning event to build high-standard competences of volunteer management to local, national and/or European level volunteer services (with special focus on EVS) within the SEE and EU, and enhancing visibility of those services in order to engage and involve young people who are geographically, socially, economically, culturally and physically challenged.
Through training, idea sharing, and practical application activities, the aim is to prepare volunteer managers to return to their organisations ready to disseminate and apply what they have learned in the training course. This is part of a broader mission to help promote development and promotion of civic participation and voluntary activity as part of an international community of volunteer management practice and expertise.
There will be sessions presented by influential and experienced individuals and organisations in the field of volunteering, such as SALTO SEE RC, Voluntary Service Overseas, SPES (Italy), Mr. Karl Monsen-Elvik (Scotland), and SEEYN experts. Where: Krusevac, Serbia
Lodging and board are completely covered by the hosting organisations;
70% of travel is reimbursed. When: 18-26 September 2010

Research and Development Education Seminar
The Waterford One World Centre are hosting events in September.

Presented by The Irish Development Education Association and the Waterford One World Centre. The programme includes two short research presentations from IDEA members, a networking lunch, and an interactive workshop. The workshop, "Demystifying Research", aims to define research terms and concepts, and will encourage participants to undertake their own small-scale research projects.

As part of Waterford City Council's Positive Ageing Week, the Waterford One World Centre will present this interactive workshop exploring the experiences of older people from local and global perspectives. It aims to identify ways in which older people can take action for a more just and sustainable world.

Interested in Architecture? Volunteer with Open House
Ireland’s largest architectural event, OPEN HOUSE DUBLIN, presented by the Irish Architecture Foundation, returns from 7 - 10 OCTOBER 2010. The Irish Architecture Foundation are seeking volunteers to help for a minimum of 4 hours over the weekend. Volunteers will be assigned to buildings to welcome visitors, distribute information etc.

Free social entrepreneurship workshop
The Wales Ireland Network for Social Entrepreneurship (WINSENT) will be hosting a free, half-day workshop for social entrepreneurs in Dublin, Tuesday, 28 September, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
The purpose of the session, entitled “Sustainability, Succession, Strategy”, is to:
- Discuss the various “sustainability gaps” that many social entrepreneurs face during the start-up and expansion phases of their business;
Outline a systematic process for creating social entrepreneurs succession structures/processes at management and board level;
Explain a strategy formulation and implementation process which will ensure corporate governance and commercial/social return on investment;
Illustrate the above with relevant Irish and international social entrepreneurship examples;
Network with other social entrepreneurs, share personal examples and approaches in small group sessions.
